Food Allergy Testing

Over the past several years food allergy testing has become better understood with many studies showing the relationship to common foods most of us eat routinely. When a person eats foods they are sensitive to, a chain reaction begins with the immune system producing inflammatory mediators which may cause more than 75 different symptoms. Symptoms can vary widely from person to person, based on genetic makeup, nutritional status, environment and diet. Many symptoms are subtle and cause minor distractions to individuals. However, food allergies may cause profound disruptions to everyday life such as:

  • Nausea
  • IBS (diarrhea or constipation)
  • Anxiety / depression
  • Abdominal pain
  • Gas and bloating
  • Sinus problems
  • Weight gain
  • Headache
  • Joint pain
  • Problems with memory or cognition
  • Fatigue

Most are unaware the foods they are eating may be causing several ongoing health problems simultaneously, or exacerbating a chronic condition they may already have.  It’s important to note that many foods people think are helping them are causing system dysfunction and until a food allergy panel is preformed and a individualized plan is put in place people may continue to suffer unknowingly. Testing for food allergies is easily performed and only requires a single relatively painless blood draw, which is then sent to the lab for evaluation.

During evaluation by the lab, your sample is tested to see whether you are making immunoglobulins (IgG) to specific foods. Based on your individual findings you will be given scores listing foods, or groups of foods you are sensitive to.  After evaluation, you are given an individual program to follow to avoid immune activation that leads to the symptoms you may be experiencing.

There are numerous conditions helped by food allergy testing. These are:

  • Fibromyalgia
  • ADHD
  • Autism
  • Arthritis
  • Asthma
  • Candida
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Depression / anxiety
  • IBS
  • Skin disorders
  • Headache / migraine
  • Obesity
  • Weight gain

After following their individual program most people report:

  • More energy
  • Clearer thinking
  • Less GI problems
  • Fewer headaches
  • Less joint pain

You do not have to suffer from these common symptoms anymore. Schedule an appointment for an evaluation and see whether you can benefit from food allergen testing!
