What is Automated Micro-Needling?
Automated Micro-Needling also known as collagen induction therapy is a new procedure for the treatment of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars and general improvement of the skin. This procedure uses very thin needles to create controlled micro-injuries within the layers of the skin, which initiates healing processes and thus production of elastin and collagen. Additionally, superficial micro channels are created which allows for the use of topical applications of PRP, gels, creams or serums which will help improve your results. As your skins repair process begins, fine lines begin to soften and results in improvements of overall appearance.
How Will Micro-Needling Help Me?
Micro-needling reduces the appearance of fine lines an wrinkles, leading to younger looking skin and fewer signs of aging. Additionally, this can be used for darkened skin (hyper-pigmentation) or lightened skin (hypo-pigmentation), acne scarring, scars from trauma, stretch marks, hair regrowth and sun damaged skin. It can also be used for general skin rejuvenation. This new procedure is now being used for thinning hair.
What Areas of the Body Can I Treat?
Eclipse MicroPen™ can be used anywhere on the body. All areas of the head, neck, arms, legs, stomach and back.
How is the Procedure Done?
Initially, a topical anesthetic is applied to the areas of concern. After a brief consultation A sterile needle-tip containing 12 tiny micro-needles is attached to the Eclipse MicroPen™. Your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical gel to your skin and select the appropriate setting based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.
What Should I Expect MicroPen to Feel Like?
Treatment with the Eclipse MicroPen™ is comparable to light sandpaper sliding across the skin. Some areas are more sensitive, but you should feel very little discomfort due to the anesthetic. The reciprocating needle tip has been designed to reduce discomfort and applying PRP (platelet rich plasma) or hydrating gels help improve results and makes treatment more unobjectionable.
How Long Does the Procedure Take?
The procedure can take between 15-60 minutes depending on the size of the area treated and whether PRP is used.
What is the Downtime?
Immediately following treatment, you will notice a bright redness to the area treated. Your healing time will depend upon the setting used with the Eclipse MicroPen™ and the number of passes. On average, 2-4 days are required for healing. Some will heal in as little as 24 hours and using skin care products provided by AZ Med Center, healing time improves.
When Will I See the Results?
You will notice an immediate glow to your skin and will develop over several days to weeks. Commonly, you may see gradual improvement over the next 6 months as collagen and connective tissues continue to be stimulated for growth.
How Many Treatments Will I need?
Some require one treatment while others may need to receive a series of treatments over the next several months. Those with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or excessive scarring may need 6-8 treatments at 6 week intervals.
